After a lively dinner conversation over spaghetti, Mr. C and Jack (Steve Baker) visit a self storage unit to switch automobiles in Twin Peaks – Part 2 on Showtime. Mr. C then says “goodbye” to Jack after squeezing his mouth for approximately 30-seconds. After searching for this location since March 2018, I finally located it thanks to the blue metal doors and round tanks.
Torrance RV Parking and Storage Units is located at 23711 Crenshaw Boulevard in Torrance, California.
At first, I thought the scene may have been shot near Hawthorne, California which is where Mandy’s Family Restaurant was located (spot for dinner conversation with Ray, Darya, Jack and Mr. C). My thinking was they probably shot the scenes around the same time since Steve Barker only appeared in this episode.
While searching the Hawthorne area, I found a US Storage Centers facility which had blue metal doors that appeared to match the doors in the episode. I visited their website and looked at every location in southern California, starting with Alhambra. When I got to Torrance, I knew I found the spot because of the storage tanks located next to the facility.
Here’s a brief overview of where some of the scenes were shot at this location courtesy of Google Maps.
But let’s take a closer look.
After parking Mr. C’s Mercedes-Benz, Jack closes the blue metal door. He then hands the keys to the new car to Mr. C.
Thankfully Google Maps Street View offered a look at this spot. The area where Jack and Mr. C stand is the storage unit second in from the left.
After getting the keys, Mr. C approaches his new car. If you look in the background, you can see beige-colored tanks and a yellow safety pole.
The yellow pole can be seen in the previous Street View image. The tanks are seen in the image above.
Mr. C stands behind his open driver’s side door. Behind him, you can see the words “Self Storage” in red.
Those same red letters are seen at the Torrance location.
Mr. C then calls Jack over and squeezes his mouth for about 33-seconds. When this first aired in May 2017, I couldn’t get enough of this scene. We learn later in the episode that Mr. C killed Jack.
Here’s one last look at the spot where Jack’s mouth is squeezed by Mr. C.
Recently a behind the scenes image from Part 2 surfaced online. It featured David Lynch demonstrating how to squeeze Steve Baker’s mouth while Executive Producer Sabrina Sutherland looks on.
Oh the title of this article comes from a scene at Hap’s Diner in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Jack (C.H. Evans) is wearing a name tag that says “Say Goodbye to Jack.” I’d like to think this all connects somehow.
