Lately, I’ve been discussing the many scenes from Twin Peaks Season 3 on Showtime that were filmed in Olallie State Park. During my visit to North Bend, Washington in September 2019, I spent three days in the woods finding nearly every location I could. One of the last locations I discovered on that trip was a short scene from Twin Peaks Part 10 where Jerry Horne attempts to get cellular service. Funny thing is that the spot for this scene is located adjacent to Steven and Gersten’s tree along Weeks Falls Trail.
Olallie State Park is located at 51350 S.E. Homestead Valley Road near North Bend. Be sure to pick up a Discover Pass if you are planning to visit.
As mentioned, the location is toward the end of Weeks Falls Trail near Steven and Gersten’s Tree. The exact coordinates are 47° 26′ 2.568″ N 121° 39′ 0.72″ W. Unlike Jerry in this scene, I had pretty good cellular reception when visiting the park.
When facing Steven and Gersten’s tree, the area on the right side is where this scene is shot.
The short scene opens with Jerry holding up his mobile phone.
This is the approximate area where the scene took place. The area is slightly sloped and the area beyond those trees is a road (which is why there is a lot of white space).
I attempted to recreate the scene.
You hear a beeping as Jerry holds up his phone with a message that reads “No Service.”
The out-of-focus tree in the background is to Jerry’s right side (Steven’s tree is behind the camera).

I even held up my mobile phone while trying to find an exact match. I think I came pretty close.
We then see Jerry’s profile appear on the screen.

I couldn’t resist getting in the action. I tried multiple times to take this photo with my Canon 5D and tripod but I was never lined up properly or was out-of-focus. I eventually gave up and used my mobile phone instead.
The scene ends with Jerry yelling, “You can’t fool me! I’ve been here before.”
BEHIND THE SCENES
It wasn’t until I returned home that I was able to 100% confirm that this was the spot.
In the short film, The Man with the Grey Elevated Hair, by Jason S. from the Twin Peaks Season 3 Blu-ray set, there is a clip of David Lynch showing David Patrick Kelly how to hold his mobile phone. Take a look at the tree behind them.
Looks like a match to me. You really can’t miss that tree. Similar to Steven and Gersten’s tree (which is left of that tree), it’s massive and looks very unique.
