When I think of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s Twin Peaks, images of doughnuts, cherry pie and hot cups of black coffee come to mind. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the show, Showtime partnered with Colorado-based Allegro Coffee to create a damn, fine blend. Sadly, Allegro Coffee is no longer available as of 2021, but let’s take a look back at this unique collaboration.
DAMN GOOD COFFEE
Launched in May 2020, Allegro coffee we’ve partnered on this special blend that “is as dark and complex as the now cult-classic TV show.” This blend is was only available via their online store for a limited time this summer.
Their landing page once described this special blend:
“Twin Peaks 30th Anniversary Blend coffee brings us back to a familiar time and place. Three decades ago creative geniuses David Lynch & Mark Frost masterminded a TV series set in a sleepy Washington town where the townsfolk connect through tragedy and mystery.
You are invited to reunite with crime solving Agent Cooper, who discovers wonder in the dense misty forests and comforting familiarity in the coffee and homemade cherry pie from the local Double R Diner.
Transcending the test of time, Twin Peaks forever etched its twisted characters and captivating suspense in our minds, only to highlight the simple pleasure of a cup of DAMN GOOD COFFEE.
Just like the show, this coffee is dark and complex – but open for interpretation.”
That last sentence cracks me up!
DAVID LYNCH SELECTED THE COFFEE BLEND
In April, fellow Bookhouse Boy @BeanoRojo contacted Allegro Coffee to ask about David Lynch’s involvement. He shared their response on July 8, 2020. The best news is that “David Lynch was personally involved in choosing this blend.” Beano fighting the good fight!
TRYING TWIN PEAKS 30t ANNIVERSARY BLEND BY ALLEGRO COFFEE
I ordered a bag a few weeks and have since ordered three more. The Medium-Dark Roast coffee from the Pacific Rim / Americas has notes of Dark Chocolate and Caramel.
The bag contains the familiar black and white chevron floor with red “drapes.” The same description from the website is printed on the back of the bag.
It was available in 12-oz. bags either WHOLE BEAN or GROUND coffee.
I’ve spent the past several weeks enjoying this blend, both in my drip coffee maker and via my new pour over kit. Tastes even better in my official One Eyed Jacks coffee mug from the Showtime Store.

DAVID LYNCH BLEND
Allegro Coffee is no stranger to the world of David Lynch and Twin Peaks. They provided the David Lynch Organic Blend for the after party during the release of Twin Peaks Blu-ray set featuring The Missing Pieces on July 30, 2014.
They did offer the David Lynch Signature Cup Coffee on their website until 2021. I also highly recommend this blend and it was available in the following blends, whole bean or ground:

FUN FACT ABOUT COFFEE IN TWIN PEAKS
While we see several cups of coffee in the Pilot Episode, it’s not until around the 35-minute mark that we finally hear someone say “coffee.” In an attempt to comfort his nephew, Big Ed Hurley asks James, “Buy you a coffee?” The rest is history!
